In their own words, Veganuary is the world's largest vegan movement, inspiring people to try vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year. It was started by a couple in UK in 2014 and now they have over 1,000,000 participants and Hollywood A list ambassadors like Joaquin Phoenix to Natalie Portman supporting it.

Since breeding, caging and slaughtering of animals causes suffering, many individuals don’t want to partake in causing such suffering and hence avoid using any animal products.
United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) discovered meat production spews more greenhouse gasses carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and the likes in the atmosphere than transportation industry. For example it states that producing a half pound hamburger patty of meat releases as much greenhouse gas as driving a 3000 pound car for 10 miles. Many individuals care about the environment and want to reduce their carbon footprint. Choosing veganism is one great way to start.
Whole foods plant based diet rich in vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts and whole grains has been scientifically proven to be healthier. Many individuals choose veganism for health and vitality.
For many it’s one reason and for some it’s all of the above. As far as the health benefits are concerned plant based diets have shown to lower risk of developing coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and result in increased longevity. The only nutrient that is difficult to get on vegan diet is Vitamin B12, it can be easily added as a supplement.

1. Vegetable Coconut Curry
